Santa Maria della Scala is pleased to host April 30 a special day dedicated toInternational Jazz Day, a production by Siena Jazz within the PNRR JazzAble project.
For the entire day, the spaces of the museum complex will come alive with a rich program of events that combine education, music and visual arts. At the Cappella del Manto the exhibition “Jazz Frames – contemporary interpretations of the Polillo Archive”, an exhibition path that reinterprets the jazz heritage through contemporary figurative art.
Meanwhile, the Sala Italo Calvino will host lecture-concerts for schools, led by the musicologist Francesco Martinelli together with the ensemble coordinated by Nico Gori, offering students an immersive experience in the history and language of jazz.
In the afternoon, space for younger participants with the Peter Pan Orchestra, an educational project that involves musicians between the ages of 7 and 14 in a workshop dedicated to improvisation and modern music.
At 11:00, in the Sala Sant’Ansano, the final conference of the JazzAble project will take place, with the participation of institutions, international partners and a connection to the Bangkok jazz festival. The evening, in the Sala San Pio, will be dedicated to musical and artistic performances: at 6:00 PM the trio led by Kazumi Ikenaga, in collaboration with Siena Jazz; at 7:00 PM “Miles Davis Songbook”, a tribute to the great trumpeter on the centenary of his birth; at 8:00 PM “Requiem”, an interdisciplinary live painting project curated by Danjiel Zezelj and Marco Colonna which brings together music and visual art in a performance with a strong creative impact.
The initiative represents a unique opportunity to celebrate jazz as a universal language and to experience Santa Maria della Scala as a meeting place between cultures, generations and different artistic forms.
