Acca Larentia

The sculpture depicts Acca Larentia, the wife of the shepherd who found the twins. It was created by Jacopo della Quercia and shows her standing, with her chest uncovered and a cloth, held by her right hand, covering her from the waist down. She holds one of the twins in her arms, who touches her breast, while the other is at her feet, reaching out his arms toward his mother.
