A single novel but five meetings from January to May.
The reading group NO BOOK IS LIKE ANOTHER resumes its activity at the Giuliano Briganti Library and will be engaged in the reading of the novel by Melania Mazzucco The Long Wait of the Angel (Rizzoli 2008), a text rich in biographical suggestions about the figure of Marietta Robusti (c. 1554 - 1590) illegitimate daughter of Jacopo Robusti known as Tintoretto (1518 - 1994).
The Long Wait of the Angel is not a novel of fiction. The author's intent is, starting from the documentary research that accompanied it, to restore truth and depth to an almost legendary character: Marietta Robusti who, despite her art being appreciated even in her time, in fact never signed her works and remained in the shadows. The reading experience will unite the pleasure of reading with the historical and artistic deepening of the Venetian environment of the 16th century and the reading of Mazzucco's novel will serve the group as a means to learn, through the viewing, time after time, of a selected sequence of images, about the work of the painter Marietta Robusti and of her father Jacopo.
