Reading a book means coming into contact with an underground world of intense emotions. Reading stimulates reflection through identification with the characters and their experiences, and can generate lasting change and inner well-being. The reading group NO BOOK IS THE SAME AS ANOTHER at the Giuliano Briganti Library was born in 2021 in collaboration with the Università Popolare Senese; over time it has become a space where reading is valued and promoted through dialogue and the free exchange of opinions, in an atmosphere of mutual enrichment.
The group, by reservation for a maximum of 15 participants, is free of charge, meets monthly, and participants will be called upon in turn to choose the text to read for the next meeting except for the first one, scheduled for Tuesday, September 23 - the volumes were chosen by the group that ended in June - during which there will be a discussion about Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, a classic of literature first published in 1818 and republished with modifications in 1831, and the novel If Cats Disappeared from the World by Genki Kawamura, with its bizarre and unpredictable plot. Two apparently distant texts but both rich with insights to understand what is truly important in life.
