Mother's Day at the Museum

The Santa Maria della Scala museum complex will take part in the European Archaeology Days from June 13 to 15.

The guided tours titled “Water Paths at Santa Maria della Scala” return to the Museum. 

From June 12 to September 7, 2025, Francesco Carone presents Golgotha | On Portraying a Mountain at Santa Maria della Scala. This sculptural installation explores Golgotha as a secular symbol of ascent and introspection. Through a collection of ancient representations, the artist reflects on the landscape as an inner realm. The exhibition is part of the Raggioverde 2025 program, curated by Michelina Eremita.

The exhibition explores Italian art between the two world wars and the early '60s, featuring works by great masters and Sienese artists, offering new perspectives on the collecting practices of the time.

To mark the closing of the exhibition, on Friday, June 6, we are organizing a finissage featuring several events throughout the day.

The volume retraces the history of the coin collection of the National Archaeological Museum, highlighting its main sources and the find contexts within the Siena area.

On Wednesday, May 21st, in the Italo Calvino Hall, architect Luca Molinari will engage in a dialogue with representatives from Odile Decq, Studio LAN, and Hannes Peer to present the design competition for the restoration and enhancement of over 18,000 square meters of the Museum Complex. The goal is to strengthen its cultural and educational mission.

From May 22 to September 30, 2025, the Antico Ospedale Santa Maria della Scala Foundation presents the exhibition Jacob Hashimoto. Path to the Sky, curated by Raphaëlle Blanga, an expert in modern and contemporary art.

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, Santa Maria della Scala will be open for free from 7 PM to midnight for the European Night of Museums. Visitors can explore the museum and enjoy a pink gin and tonic in honor of the Giro d’Italia.
