Francesca Sani tells

Known throughout the world for his disturbing, provocational portraits of Japanese women often bound using the kinbaku technique (Japanese form of bondage), Nobuyoshi Araki is a unique figure in the field of contemporary photography. His whole life (the private side of which overlaps with his public and professional sides) is the repository that he regularly scours for his artistic creations. The exhibition at Santa Maria della Scala hosts over 3,000 images – many of them never seen before – that Araki has produced from the 1960s to the present day, the pictures reviewing and celebrating a career stretching back over 50 years to offer a virtually complete overview of his vast production.
