Remember Joseph Beuys

From 13th September to 15th November 2026, the exhibition Remember Joseph Beuys will be open to visitors at the Magazzini della Corticella. The exhibition project is dedicated to Joseph Beuys (Krefeld, 1921 – Düsseldorf, 1986), one of the most radical and influential figures in art of the second half of the twentieth century. His work progressively moved beyond the boundaries of the art object to question the relationship between man and nature, individual responsibility, creativity as a social force, and art's potential to contribute to the transformation of society.

At the heart of the exhibition is a core group of photographs by Buby Durini, now held in the Archivio Storico De Domizio Durini. Taken over the years, the photographs document actions, encounters, public events and moments from the life of Joseph Beuys. Alongside the photographic documentation, the exhibition presents a selection of original works, multiples and publications from the private collection of Lucrezia De Domizio Durini, who shared a long and intense human, intellectual and professional journey with the artist.

The exhibition also includes a work paying tribute to Joseph Beuys by the Sienese artist Jacopo Pischedda.

The exhibition, designed and conceived by Lucrezia De Domizio Durini, is curated by Lorenzo Metzler, with scientific curatorship by Giorgio D'Orazio. It is organized by the Municipality of Siena in collaboration with the Fondazione Antico Ospedale Santa Maria della Scala.
